Again, put these in writing. A day or so later read them to see if you feel any adjustments are needed. Now, turn to someone either in the business or outside that knows the business well and ask them to do the same SWOT analysis. Be sure not to bias them. Now using this input, update your SWOT, as you see fit.

Now bare with me for a bit of relevant background: As I started my formal education, many moons ago, I was convinced that Research Physics was the only career for me. However, the need to support a wife and soon to be role as father... both arrived way ahead of the master plan. Well being a survivor I managed to land a job as a Cost Accountant at Ford Motor Companies Dearborn Iron Foundry. At that moment I wasn't sure what a Cost Account even did? Now as a young man entering a world dominated by near retirement aged senior citizens at a time when technology was changing the Cost Accountants tools of daily work... I sensed a personal opportunity and embraced Ford's using me as their change agent. This refocus of my passion lead to continuous career growth during my 6 years at Ford followed by 13 years at Rockwell International where I not only mastered Dr Deming's SPC but went on to become Rockwell's White Collar Productivity GURU... as I spent 2 years on the APQC land mark study on Productivity & Leadership.
